Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow

Recently I overheard
a conversation, no I was not earwigging they were talking loud enough
for me to easily hear. In this convo the man was speaking of how great
things used to be, a golden yesterday. This got me thinking
about yesterday, today and tomorrow, and why it is best to make today
our golden time. As we get closer to the end of the year this seems
even more important to consider.
Yesterday is the past. No matter how great it may have been there is
no going back. It is done, finito! For some this is sad as it contains
greatness. For others, like me, this a good as it contains A LOT of
sadness and brokenness. Probably, for most it is a mixture. Whatever
your standpoint the past will always be the past. Yesterday cannot be
undone and there is no going back.

So
what about tomorrow. I used to live for tomorrow. A time when
everything will be okay. The problem with that is tomorrow is always
coming but it never quite gets here! Planning for tomorrow is very
important but living for it is dangerous. If you live for tomorrow you
have probably missed the blessings you received today. The reality is,
there is no guarantee you will have a tomorrow. It may all end today.
So be mindful of and prepare for tomorrow. However, don’t live for
tomorrow because when it arrives it will have become today.
Therefore, the greatest emphasis is best placed on today. Today
gives you the power to build upon the good or bad of yesterday and to
plan and prepare for a better tomorrow. The best time in your life is
now and the moment to enjoy is now. If you’re not enjoying today that’s
okay, that probably means now is the time to make some changes. There
is a saying you may have heard that I like; today is a gift that’s why
it’s called the present

. So carpe diem, Latin for seize the day!
